Vehicles in Germany's City Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities mentioned they were notified by a man who found a automobile in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Around 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The fluid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Officers then found many other smeared cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Police state initial examinations indicate the substance was likely human blood.

"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; officials are currently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials stated they were trying "to solve the case" and have appealed to the public for information.

A senior political figure stated the vandalism made him speechless and required to be addressed quickly.

"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing attack five years ago," he posted on online, mentioning the death of nine victims by a assailant aiming at residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
